RECE Educator

About the Role

Pluto Day Care is currently hiring Registered Early Childhood Educators (RECEs) to join our team.


As an RECE at Pluto Day Care, you will work alongside other educators under the guidance of the centre Supervisor to provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children. Our programs serve children from 6 weeks to 6 years of age, and staff may be placed in infant, toddler, or preschool classrooms depending on centre needs.


Responsibilities

As part of our team, you will:

  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities and experiences for children.

  • Support children’s physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development.

  • Create a safe, caring, and inclusive classroom environment.

  • Build positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers.

  • Greet and engage with children and families each day.

  • Use Ontario’s How Does Learning Happen? and ELECT documents to guide programming.

  • Support the four foundations of learning: belonging, well-being, engagement, and expression.

  • Observe, document, and reflect on children’s interests, abilities, and development.

  • Communicate progress or concerns with team members and families when appropriate.

  • Promote positive behaviour guidance and respectful interactions.

  • Supervise children during classroom activities, outdoor play, routines, and transitions.

  • Work collaboratively as part of a team to support the overall program.


Locations & Schedule

Pluto Day Care operates three childcare centres in Kitchener-Waterloo: two in Kitchener and one in Waterloo.


Applicants may be assigned to any Pluto Day Care location, classroom, or age group based on company needs. Staff may also occasionally be asked to work at different centres or have their home centre reassigned.


Our centres are open:

Monday to Friday7:00am – 6:00pm


While we do our best to provide consistent schedules and classroom placements, flexibility is required.


We close for all statutory holidays & for roughly 1 week between Christmas & New Year.


Qualifications

Applicants must have:

  • Valid RECE certification

  • Valid Standard First Aid & CPR Level C

  • Vulnerable Sector Check (dated within 6 months)

  • Ability to write & communicate in English

  • A passion for working with young children


At this time, we are only accepting applications from candidates who hold their RECE certification.


Uniform

Staff are required to wear scrubs as their uniform, with occasional dress-down days.


Wage

Starting at $27.58 per hour

This wage is inclusive of applicable wage enhancements.

Important Employment Eligibility Notice

  • Employed in a full-time, permanent position with Pluto Day Care for a minimum of six (6) consecutive months; and

  • Registered as an RECE in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators.

Requests that do not meet both of the above criteria will not be considered.
