About the Role
Pluto Day Care is currently seeking caring, dependable, and flexible Supply Teachers to join our team.
As a Supply Teacher, you will play an important role in supporting our educators and maintaining a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children. Supply staff are responsible for stepping into classrooms as needed and working collaboratively with a variety of educators, age groups, and centre teams.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children, can adapt quickly to different environments, and is comfortable supporting daily routines in infant, toddler, and preschool classrooms.
Responsibilities
As part of our team, you will:
Support children’s physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development.
Create a safe, caring, and inclusive environment for children.
Build positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers.
Greet and engage with children and families throughout the day.
Promote positive behaviour guidance and respectful interactions.
Supervise children during classroom activities, outdoor play, routines, and transitions.
Easily adapt to established classroom routines and expectations.
Work collaboratively with a variety of educators and centre teams.
Step into different classrooms and age groups as needed.
Assist with maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming learning environment.
Support the overall operation of the centre and classroom throughout the day.
Locations & Schedule
Pluto Day Care operates three childcare centres throughout Kitchener-Waterloo: two locations in Kitchener and one location in Waterloo.
Supply Teachers must be available to work at any of our locations as operational needs require.
This is a casual, on-call position. Hours may vary from week to week and can range from 0 to 40 hours per week, depending on staffing needs. Hours are not guaranteed.
Our centres operate:
Monday to Friday7:00am – 6:00pm
Flexibility and availability during operating hours are essential for this role.
We close for all statutory holidays & for roughly 1 week between Christmas & New Year.
Qualifications
Applicants must have:
Valid RECE certification
Valid Standard First Aid & CPR Level C
Vulnerable Sector Check (dated within 6 months)
Ability to write & communicate in English
Previous experience working with children
Strong teamwork and communication skills
The ability to adapt quickly to different classrooms, age groups, and routines
An RECE designation is not required for this position.
Uniform
Staff are required to wear scrubs as their uniform, with occasional dress-down days.
Wage
Starting at $18.64 per hour
This wage is inclusive of applicable wage enhancements.
